American Freedom Alliance mourns the sudden passing of its founder and president, Avi Davis.
He was a great friend, a truly fine man, and an intellectual powerhouse whose sudden loss we all feel acutely.
Avi and this organization have been a tremendous force for freedom, and the Board of Directors of AFA has been meeting to ensure that this important work continues.  We are committed to the mission, and to honoring Avi.
Recently, Avi had written this:
Happiness comes in life not by wanting but by giving; and then, of course, by expressing gratitude and humility for whatever small portion of good luck we are privileged to enjoy as a result. To BE happy, in the end, is to be grateful - thankful for our extraordinary good fortune to be alive.
If this is the case, and we believe it to be, Avi Davis must truly have been one of the happiest of men, and we are grateful to have known him.
Roger Simon of PJMedia wrote this moving tribute, and this In Memoriam piece was written by Adelle Nazarian from Breitbart.com.

About Steve Stockman:

Steve Stockman was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on November 6, 2012, with a vision of limited government, strong support for American families, and a robust national defense.

Rep. Stockman serves the people of the 36th Congressional District of Texas, which was created as a result of the 2010 census and includes the counties of Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Polk, Tyler, and portions of southeastern Harris County.

The district is home to NASA's Johnson Space Center, the research and training facility for all manned space exploration and the location of the popular Mission Control Center. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Rep. Stockman highlights the importance of a vigorous space exploration program to keep the U.S. at the forefront of space technology.

The district also contains the highest number per capita of oil and gas refineries and downstream petrochemical plants in the world. Rep. Stockman is working for commonsense regulatory relief for the nation's oil and gas industries, which will lead to less dependence on foreign oil and more American jobs. The completion of the Keystone XL pipeline, for instance, will lead to the creation of tens of thousands of new employment opportunities.

A fierce defender of constitutional liberties, Rep. Stockman is a leader in defending the Second Amendment. He introduced the very first pro-gun bill in the House in 2013 (H.R. 35, to repeal federal gun free zones).

When the President threatened to bypass Congress and enact gun control through Executive Orders, Rep. Stockman introduced, along with Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky in the Senate, the "Restore the Constitution Act of 2013," which would nullify any anti-gun orders.

Rep. Stockman, who serves as Vice Chairman of the House Second Amendment Task Force, also authored legislation to strip funding to the UN should that body attempt to restrict American's gun rights.

As a 100% pro-life supporter, Steve authored the 2013 Sanctity of Life Act, which declares that life begins at conception, and which also limits the federal courts' jurisdiction in cases dealing with the unborn.

Congressman Stockman sits of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and plays an active role in uncovering the truth about the attack of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

Stockman co-founded the South Sudan Caucus, in support of the world's newest nation. South Sudan, which is a majority Christian nation, suffered decades of oppression and genocide from North Sudan, and still endures attacks despite the existence of a peace agreement. Stockman has traveled to Juba, the nation's capital, as well as to other parts of Africa, in support of medical missionary work.

Prior to his election in 2012, Steve served in Congress from 1995-97.

Some of the awards and commendations awarded Steve were the "Taxpayers Best Friend Award" by Citizens for Tax Reform; a consistent "100 percent" rating by the American Conservative Union; "Taxpayer's Hero Award" by Citizens Against Government Waste, and "Pro-Family Congressman of the Year" by the American Family Association.

Steve holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He and his wife of 25 years, Patti, live in Clear Lake.
