About the Topic:

Following AFA's successful September conference Oslo @ 20: Costs and Consequences of the Peace Process, many of our members have asked us to provide more details on the record of non-compliance by the Palestinian Authority on its international agreements. We are indeed fortunate to have with us Itamar Marcus, the founder of Palestine Media Watch who will provide a comprehensive overview of the subject and a graphic display of how the peace process was torpedoed by an unreformed Palestinian Authority which has marinated Palestinian society in the swill of incitement, antisemitism and terror.

About the Lecturer

Itamar Marcus
Itamar Marcus, born in New York, is a foremost authority on Palestinian ideology and policy. Mr. Marcus is director of Palestinian Media Watch, which he established in 1996, a Jerusalem-based research institute which studies Palestinian society, with special focus on the messages conveyed by Palestinian leaders through the broad range of educational and media institutions and infrastructures under their control. He was appointed by the Israeli Government as its representative in negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, in the Trilateral Committee on Incitement, established in 1998. Between 1997-2001 he served as director of the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace, writing reports on the schoolbooks and educational curricula of different countries in the Middle East.

PMW monitors, translates and analyzes these messages, and has published hundreds of bulletins as well as dozens of in-depth reports which Mr. Marcus has presented in academic, cultural and government frameworks, including hearings, lectures and briefings to members of US Congress and Senate, the Canadian, British, French, German, Norwegian, Swiss, Italian and Australian Parliaments, and members of European Parliament.

 He holds a BA in Political Science from City University and an MA in Hebrew Culture from NY University. He is married with five children and two grandchildren. In addition to his research on Palestinian society and ideology he has published three children books.
