Over the past sixty-five years the United Nations has been held both in esteem and disdain by its member governments and the peoples they purportedly represent. Does it really measure up to the grand promises of 1945? What contribution does the United Nations really make to maintaining international peace and security, or to raising living standards globally? How effective is the United Nations in promoting freedom and human rights? Does the United Nations serve American values and interests? Ultimately, is it now time for the United States to challenge the United Nations and to consider multilateral alternatives to this institution?

Join us at this extraordinary first time debate on issues of vital importance to the future of the United Sates and the world.

BIOGRAPHIES:

Larry Greenfield is fellow in American studies at the Claremont Institute and a frequent commentator on national security issues and American politics. He served in the Armed Forces of the United States in Naval Intelligence (Res).

Claudia Rosett is journalist-in-residence at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. A former staff writer for The Wall Street Journal, she writes a weekly column for Forbes, blogs for Pajamas Media, and makes guest appearances on television and radio.

Ami Horowitz is a film maker and documentarian whose most recent film U.N. Me has won wide praise for its depiction of the failures of the United Nations in its peace keeping mission.
