American Freedom Alliance mourns the sudden passing of its founder and president, Avi Davis.
He was a great friend, a truly fine man, and an intellectual powerhouse whose sudden loss we all feel acutely.
Avi and this organization have been a tremendous force for freedom, and the Board of Directors of AFA has been meeting to ensure that this important work continues.  We are committed to the mission, and to honoring Avi.
Recently, Avi had written this:
Happiness comes in life not by wanting but by giving; and then, of course, by expressing gratitude and humility for whatever small portion of good luck we are privileged to enjoy as a result. To BE happy, in the end, is to be grateful - thankful for our extraordinary good fortune to be alive.
If this is the case, and we believe it to be, Avi Davis must truly have been one of the happiest of men, and we are grateful to have known him.
Roger Simon of PJMedia wrote this moving tribute, and this In Memoriam piece was written by Adelle Nazarian from Breitbart.com.

About the Speaker:

Ruth R. Wisse Is one of the most outstanding Jewish intellectuals in the United States. A Harvard professor for almost 40 years, she specialized in the study of Yiddish literature but her interests far exceeded that speciality. She has become a much sought after speaker on issues relevant to university teaching, the recrudescence of antisemitism, political correctness and the abuse of human rights. Her opinion pieces appear regularly around the world and she is a contributor to the Wall Street Journal. She has many publications to her credit but her book Classic Liberalism and the Jewish Tradition most effectively encapsulates the crisis of the modern American jewish community which has drifted into a progressivism which in many respects is antithetical to jewish teachings.

About Leslie J. Sacks:

Leslie Sacks was a prominent art dealer and gallerist in Los Angeles, having established Leslie Sacks Fine Art, Brentwood in 1992. His academic background includes both psychology and computer science degrees from the University of Witwaterstrand, South Africa. While in South Africa, Leslie worked in various capacities in opposition to apartheid and in support of the Black and Jewish South African communities in the early 70s. He was Chairman of the South African Union of Jewish Students and served on the Executive of the World Union of Jewish Students while also publishing and editing various student publications including Mussar and Jewits whilst at university. Leslie supported numerous charities concerned with the defense of western civilized values and wrote a regular blog on issues of deep concern regarding the future of the West. He was awarded the Soul of Liberty Award by AFA in 2008. He is survived by his wife Gina, two sons and two stepsons.

This event has been made possible by a generous donation from Gina Sacks.
